June Favorites – 2018 Edition

Hello Friends!

Can you believe we’re at the end of June already? This summer is flying by!

It’s time for another edition of monthly favorites! Here are the things I’ve enjoyed slightly more than other things this month.

Let’s jump in!

Majesty Palm – Tiberius

Meet the newest member of our family, Tiberius! My husband surprised me with this handsome Majesty Palm a few weeks ago. Isn’t he gorgeous? If you didn’t know already, I love having plants in my house and I name all of them! I especially love tropical and desert type plants, so this was the perfect gift!

Oral-B Glide Scope Outlast Floss Picks

We all know we need to floss, but let’s be honest. How many of us actually floss as often as we’re supposed to? Flossing is annoying and time consuming – “ain’t nobody got time for that.” haha! I’m pretty sure my dentist would be like, “ain’t nobody got time for gum disease.” haha! Well, maybe not. She’s a very nice lady and one of the best dentists in Ohio, but she is also a little more serious and composed. I don’t see her ever saying that. Anyway, I’m not good at flossing my teeth. Regular floss is cumbersome and tends to get caught in between my teeth. –True story. My wisdom teeth really shifted the rest of my teeth. Plus, regular floss just doesn’t work on my permanent retainer. However, these floss picks are amazing! First, they have a wider strip, which doesn’t cut into your gums like other thinner floss picks. Second, these make flossing so easy and simple! I love them! The sharper end works perfect to get in between my teeth where my permanent retainer resides. If you aren’t a fan of flossing, definitely give these a try! And for all you tooth pick lovers, these work perfect for that! And they are great for kids!

Yoplait Greek 100 Whips – Strawberry Cheesecake

I’m a huge Greek yogurt fan. In fact, I prefer it over regular yogurt. I love these Yoplait Whips in the Greek yogurt because it gives me a different texture, think like a dessert mousse. They are delicious and filling! Sometimes I have them as my breakfast or as a snack in between meals. The strawberry cheesecake is the best!

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Salted Caramel Cascade

It’s not a favorites post without at least one treat. This one is it this month. My husband brought this home for me and I loved it! Normally, for a salted caramel chocolate, I like milk chocolate, so I wasn’t sure if I would really love this or not… but never doubt Ghirardelli. This was so delicious and a little healthier because it was dark chocolate. haha!

A Song of Ice and Fire – A Game Of Thrones

I love Game of Thrones. It’s one of my favorite TV shows. I haven’t seen season 7 yet, so while I wait to get my hands on the Blu-Ray set, I decided to read the series. I didn’t realize this novel was published in 1996. I’m surprised I hadn’t ever picked it up on my many trips to the library. Oh well.. better late than never. I devoured this. It was soooo good. I mean, of course. 99% of the time, the book is better. If you haven’t read the books, I highly recommend doing so. Be aware, it’s a large book. And there’s four more to go with it. I’m currently on the second one, Clash of Kings.

And that’s it. A short list this month.

What were your favorite things? Share them in the comments! Also, feel free to leave a link to your post or video if you made a June Favorites. I’d love to check it out!

April Favorites – 2018 Edition

Hello Friends!

Can you believe we are finally nearing May? I’m so excited for warmer weather, beautiful sunshine, and trips to the Lake!

But first, it’s time to chat about all of my favorite things this past month.

Let’s get started!

A Column of Fire – Ken Follett

First up is a book that I actually forgot was coming out. I was tagged on Twitter to share a book that changed my life. (A Circle Of Quiet – Madeleine L’Engle) While I was browsing through other tweets, I saw someone had posted a Ken Follett book. I adore his novels.. they are intriguing and amazing. So I left a comment, basically saying that. Haha! A new friend tweeted at me, asking if I had read this one. I hadn’t. The issue with Ken Follett’s phenomenal historical fiction series is how much time has to pass in order for him to write the next book. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I had completely forgotten about it. Thankfully this new friend told me about it.. I immediately hopped on my library app and requested it. A month later it was mine. I spent a good week getting lost in this book. It was simply amazing. As usual, I was sad to finish it. I get so involved in the story and with the characters.. and it’s hard to let go. The way it ended though… I’m looking forward to a new edition to this series. (Fingers crossed.)

The Great Interior Design Challenge

What is it about British Television that I find so fascinating? I honestly have no idea.. It might stem from my childhood: I spent most weekends with my grandparents and every Saturday night we would watch the British comedy line-up on PBS. My favorite show was Keeping Up Appearances. Who could forget the incredible Mrs. Bucket (“It’s BOOOOUUUQUUUUETTTTT!”) I digress. A few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to watch something on Netflix while I enjoyed my coffee. This show looked interesting, so I gave it a chance. That was a bad idea. I sat on the couch for three hours, sipping coffee, and learning interior design tips. haha! There were 16 episodes available. It took about two weeks, but I finished the season. I hope they made more because this show was really awesome!

Coffee Nut M&M’s

I love coupons. Who doesn’t enjoy saving money? I had a coupon, buy one bag of M&M’s, get one bag free. I wanted to try one of the new flavors.. I think it was espresso — it was coffee related — but the store we were at didn’t have the cool new flavors. So, I decided I would try the Coffee Nut M&M’s. Several of my friends told me they were delicious and I had been wanting to try them. Here was my chance. Let me just say… I was not disappointed. They were soooo good. I actually want to try making cookies with them. Can you imagine how amazing that would be?

Is an explanation even necessary for this one? Altoids are amazing in so many ways. I’ve been all about these lately. They are perfect to curb snacking and when all the mints are gone, you have a cute little tin to upcycle.

Black Obsidian Pendant

I don’t wear much jewelry. Obviously, I always have my wedding band on. I have a few classic pieces that I wear when we go out, but that’s the extent of it. About a month ago, I won a giveaway on Instagram. My prize was a beautiful rose quartz pendant from Sultry Stones. First impression – the packaging.. it was carefully and beautifully packaged. You could tell that she really takes pride in her work.  The rose quartz pendant is beautiful and when I wore it out on our vacation, I received so many compliments! I’ve browsed her Instagram posts and I love all of her pendants, but I was really drawn to the black obsidian. Originally, my plan was to purchase it as a birthday gift for myself in September, and as a reward for reaching my splits goal. Well, I reached out and the price was so good that I decided to go for it. I absolutely love this pendant. It’s my favorite necklace and I’ve been wearing it everywhere!

Snuggle Dryer Sheets

I’m normally a Bounce dryer sheet kinda gal.. but when I went to the store to get more, the shelf was empty. I was about to grab the Gain dryer sheets, when my husband pointed out that Snuggle was a better deal. “Sure,” I shrugged. Well… that ended up being the perfect choice. When we got home and opened the trunk to grab the grocery bags, we were surprised at how amazing the trunk smelled… the scent was coming from the unopened box of dryer sheets. Using them on our laundry has been equally amazing. The scent is phenomenal and they keep static at bay. 200 sheets for $5.97? You can’t beat that!

Magnolia Tree Blossoms

We have the most beautiful tree in our front yard… for about a month in the spring time. Then the flowers fall off and we’re left with green leaves for the rest of the warm season. Last year, the weather was pretty weird and it didn’t bloom at all. This year, however, it decided to start blossoming early. This was worrisome as the weather has been ping-ponging back and forth between winter and spring. But, the tree has prevailed! It is full of beautiful pink, purple, and white flowers. It is so lovely!

The Bishop’s Pawn – Steve Berry

I have been waiting for this novel for a little over a year. This is another Cotton Malone adventure and it was one of the best yet! The story explores a theory surrounding the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., in a twist that I had never heard of before. We learn how Cotton got his start with the Magellan Billet. This is another historical fiction novel (one of my favorite genres) and keeps you hooked until the end. What I love the most about Steve Berry’s novels is he separates fact from fiction at the very end… and in the process you end up learning interesting new facts. Per usual, I devoured this story and I am looking forward to the next Cotton adventure!

Well, that’s it for me this month. What were your favorite things? Share them in the comments! Also, feel free to leave a link to your post or video if you made an April Favorites. I’d love to check it out!

March Favorites – 2018 Edition

Hello Friends!

March is finally coming to an end and the weather is slowly starting to warm up. Thank goodness! This month was a little rough, with everyone getting sick, but also had some awesome moments — celebrating my son’s birthday and enjoying a staycation! Spring Break is coming to an end and it’s time to get back into our everyday routine. Starting with…

Another round of monthly favorites!

Let’s jump in!

Better Homes & Gardens Essential Oils 3-Pack

I use my diffuser every day, mulitple times a day. I like to set it up in the morning while I do Yoga, while my son does his schoolwork, during my workout, in the evening while relaxing, and of course, at night. We bought a second one for my son’s room because we love ours so much! Not only does the diffuser mist out a pleasant scent, but it also helps keep moisture in the air. This pack of three essential oils was an amazing deal. All three scents are wonderful! The eucalyptus is my favorite and is perfect for stress-relief, congestion, and allergies. I love the lemongrass in the morning to help wake me up while I practice yoga. The sweet orange is awesome, too, and is the one we use at night. Be sure to check the bottles closely before buying. After getting this home, we realized that the eucalyptus was only half full. And if you don’t have a diffuser, I highly recommend getting one.

Blistex LipBalm 3-Pack

I might have an affinity for 3-packs this month. Hmm… haha! Blistex has upped their lipcare game with these three balms. I used the Soft & Lush and the Deep Renewal. I loved both of them! The Deep Renewal smelled like coconut and vanilla, and kept my lips soft and smooth. The Soft & Lush also had a slight vanilla scent. It glided on smoothly and kept my lips feeling softand hydrated. I had my son use the Ultra-Rich Hydration because his lips are always so chapped. It worked pretty well when he remembered to put it on (or when I reminded him to. haha!) The three pack was around $3.50, which isn’t bad for three luxurious lip balms.

Bare Minerals Fresh Faced Made-2-Fit Liquid Foundation

*I received a complimentary bottle from Influenster as part of a contest. All opinions are my own.*

Yes, this was featured last month and it made the list for this month as well. I love this foundation! We took several trips up north this month to visit family. Whenever we go somewhere for the day, I take my little makeup kit with me for touch-ups. I have combination skin, but it never fails, by mid-afternoon, my face starts to look very shiny. That is.. until this foundation. I didn’t need my make-up kit while we were out because I didn’t need to touch-up my face. I applied my make-up at 7am. At 4pm, it still looked flawless! 7pm, 9pm, 10pm, 1am… my make-up still looked good! No touch-ups required. I was impressed!

Alien Deep With Bob Ballard

I love a good documentary. If you are looking for something new to watch on Netflix, look no further than Bob Ballard’s Alien Deep. You might recognize his name — Bob Ballard is credited with finding the location of the Titanic Shipwreck. But what you may not know, is that Bob Ballard has been exploring the deep ocean waters for decades; he witnessed the birth of a new island in the Arctic, has done numerous deep dives, invented new equipment for exploration ease, and so much more! This docu-series was so interesting and I was disappointed that there were only 5 episodes.

So of course, I needed something else to watch… Netflix doesn’t disappoint…

Big Dreams Small Spaces

Monty Don seems to be a British National Treasure, revered for his gardening and horticulture skills. I was drawn to this program because, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve taken more of an interest in gardening. We have quite a bit of space and I was hoping to learn a little something to help me out this spring and summer. There are six episodes available on Netflix and I binged… haha! In each episode, Monty helps two people or families fix their outdoor space. In one episode, two neighbors, co-workers, and friends decided they wanted to tear down the brick wall in between their apartments and create one garden together. In another episode, a lady wanted to transform her front yard into a community vegetable and fruit garden. My favorite was the couple who wanted to create a sensory garden for their young son. This was a great show and I hope Netflix brings me more seasons.

Well, that’s it for me this month. What were your favorite things? Share them in the comments! Also, feel free to leave a link to your post or video if you made a March Favorites. I’d love to check it out!

February Favorites – 2018 Edition

Hello friends!

What a month!

Our good friend, Punxsutawney Phil, told us 6 more weeks of winter.

bill (1)

..but haha Phil, we experienced several warmish days, even reaching 70 degrees last week!

I am so ready for spring! I want to get started in my gardens outside, eradicting the poison ivy, removing old leaves, and I’m hoping my cactus continues to spread out. I also bought a new hummingbird feeder! I cannot wait to hang it up and enjoy the frequent visits from my hummingbirds!

Are you excited for spring?

February is coming to an end, so it’s time for another round of monthly favorites!

Let’s jump in!

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry – Neil DeGrasse Tyson

This was such a great book! Neil DeGrasse Tyson explains astrophysics in a way that everyone can understand, with a side of sass and humor. I sat down one evening and devoured this book in one sitting, while reading some excerpts aloud to my husband. If you are interested in space, the Universe, science, anything at all.. you should read this!

Moser Roth Milk Toffee Crunch

It’s no secret that I love sweets! This chocolate is one of my favorites! We buy it at Aldi’s, it comes with 5 large rectangles of crunchy, chocolatey goodness, and it lasts at least two days in my house. Haha! This brand comes in a few different varieties. I also love the dark chocolate chili’s. Yum!

GuyLian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates

These little caramels were full of surprises: They were molded into a cute seahorse shape; and they were delicious! The only drawback was that they were incredibly easy to eat. Before you even realize it, you’ve eaten five. haha!

Samsung Wireless Fast Charger

We recently upgraded our phones and I have been eyeing up this wireless charger for about a year. I love the Samsung Galaxy phones, but they get so hot when you plug them in to charge. On top of that, about a year and a half ago, my Samsung Galaxy S6 actually caught fire while I had it plugged in charging… yeah.. it’s been a debacle. So, I took advantage of the Best Buy, 25% off 3 accessories deal and snatched up a fast charger. I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but I have to say, it is really convenient! It plugs into the wall and you simply set your phone on top. Boom. Charging. I don’t know that it’s faster than plugging the phone into the plug, but it is definitely easier! If you don’t have one, you should definitely get one.

PiYoga Pants

I received a $40 gift card to piyoga for completing a yoga challenge last month. I used it to purchase these black, free flowing pants. Oh my goodness! These are so comfortable! They are handmade in Bali and shipped from California. They have a wide, elastic waist and the material is so light and airy. They are perfect for yoga, stretching, pilates, any workout and I have been wearing them non-stop! I love them! I’m planning on getting another pair really soon!

Bare Minerals Fresh Faced Made-2-Fit Foundation

*I received a complimentary bottle from Influenster as part of a contest. All opinions are my own.*

I love Bare Minerals. I’ve been wearing their makeup since 2008. This new liquid foundation is absolutely amazing and completely customized to your skin tone! First, you download the free Made-2-Fit app. Then, follow the steps to find your shade. Easy as that! This blends perfectly into my skin for a flawless finish. It doesn’t even feel or look like I’m wearing makeup! The only downfall is that it is a little pricey – $49 a bottle – which is a considerable amount more than their original mineral foundation I normally buy.

Well, that’s it for me this month. What were your favorite things? Share them in the comments! Also, feel free to leave a link to your post or video if you made a February Favorites. I’d love to check it out!

Hourglass Archbrow Voxbox Review | Influenster

*Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own*

Today I wanted to chat about the Hourglass Archbrow Volumizing Fiber Gel that I received from Influenster to test and review!

I’m new to the eyebrow makeup game. I’ve always loved my eyebrows, but I have to admit, seeing all the beauty gurus on Instagram and YouTube, with their perfectly sculpted brows can make anyone a little brow-envious. haha! I have been wanting to get in on this, but didn’t really know where to start or even how to approach it. So, when Influenster offered me a chance to test out an eyebrow product, I jumped on it!

This product comes in a 6 colors – I chose auburn because I have red hair.

It comes in a convenient little tube with a dual-sided brush: one side has short bristles to add volume and color; the other side has longer bristles to help you create your perfect shape. Go for a perfectly sculpted brow or be bold and rock an untamed, natural look!

It’s easy to use, which is great for beginners like me! The color is beautiful and it lasts all day without smudging, which is a must!

This is a great product!

Overall, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Well, that’s it! Have you tried this? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

January Favorites – 2018 Edition

Hello friends!

Here we are at the tail end of January. This month has been abuzz with activity — From yoga to birthdays, extreme cold weather to 60 degrees.. Personally, I’d like to go back to that 60 degree weather. Despite being soggy outside, it was so nice to open the windows for a bit in January! haha!

This month I hosted my first ever yoga challenge on Instagram! It was a lot of fun and I hope I get the chance to host again!

But I digress..

Let’s jump in to the point of this post — things I’ve enjoyed more than other things this month! I love favorites posts and videos! It’s interesting to see what other people have really liked, and sometimes something catches my eye and I test it out.

Let’s get started!

Bill Nye Saves The World

bill nye.jpg

I grew up watching Bill Nye The Science Guy. It was one of my favorite shows! So, when I first heard that Bill Nye was coming back with his own Netflix series, I was excited! When the first season came out, we all sat down and devoured the entire thing in one sitting! Then, it was announced there was a season 2! Of course, we sat down and watched all the episodes. It’s hard not to. Once you start the first episode, you just have to keep going. Classic Bill is back and better than ever! He has celebrities come on, panels of experts, fun experiments, and this season he has Bill Meets Science Twitter — scientists from around the world have tweeted at Bill about what they do, and he chose a few to come on the show and talk about it. It’s very cool! I highly recommend this show for the entire family!!

Hair Sanity Rejuvenator

DISCLAIMER: I recieved this complimentary bottle to test and review. All opinions are my own.

This little bottle is full of miracles! You might have seen my review on the Hair Sanity 2-part system earlier this month. This was an extra gift to test and review. I loved it! Most of you know that I have super long, thick hair.. I didn’t think I would get a full use out of this tiny bottle — I ended up getting 4 uses! Yeah. It comes out as a thin liquid, but when you rub it in your hands, and then onto your hair, it thickens up to penetrate all of your strands. Leave it on for about 5 minutes or so, rinse, and style as usual. You’re left with shiny, silky, soft hair! I love this stuff!! It’s perfect for wintertime!

MainStays Cool Mist Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser

This was a Christmas present and I am actually surprised by how much I love it! This little diffuser has made such a difference in the overall quality of our sleep. You just fill it with water, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, plug it in, turn it on, and let it go. You can choose to cycle through the colors, have it sit on one color, or just use the misting feature. The light takes some getting used to, especially if you normally sleep in a completely blacked out room. The unit turns off automatically when the water level gets too low. This is such a fabulous gift. Right now we only have lavender essential oil, but I am looking into getting a eucalyptus oil. I love the minty refreshing scent of eucalyptus!  If you don’t have one of these, you might consider looking into getting one!

Sand Cloud Mint Baja Towel

I recieved this towel from a giveaway Sand Cloud was having on their Instagram. It’s huge — 38×64 inches and it’s made from 100% Turkish Cotton. I love this towel and I cannot wait for summer! I have big plans to take this up to the Lake, using it for yoga pictures, fun landscape shots, and laying out in the sun! I want to purchase a couple more so my husband and son can each have their own!

What I really love about Sand Cloud is that they donate 10 percent of every purchase toward protecting, rehabilitating, and preserving marine wildlife, protecting and preserving the world’s oceans, and working on water quality issues. You can read more about their mission here. You can use my referral link for a discount if you are interested in shopping! 🙂

Loreal Paris Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm

DISCLAIMER: I recieved this product complimentary to test and review. All opinions are my own.
Isn’t that a mouthful? haha! But seriously, I love this stuff! You might have seen my review earlier this month. I like to use this in place of my regular conditioner. It helps keep my hair touchably soft, and my red vibrant and gorgeous! I cannot say enough good things about this product! I highly recommend it!

Well, that’s it for me this month. What your favorite things? Share them in the comments! Also, feel free to leave a link to your post or video if you made a January Favorites. I’d love to check it out!

L’OREAL Paris ElVive Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm | Influenster Voxbox Review

*Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own*

Onto the good stuff…

I received the L’OREAL Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair and Protect Balm. When I first opened the box to see which product I would be trying out, I was hit with both déjà vu and excitement. The vibrant red container called out to me and looked just like a L’OREAL product I had used many times in the past. (I even wrote a little review on it last January) I loved that product and purchased it many times throughout 2017, until about late summer when I couldn’t find it in any of the stores near me. Well, L’OREAL revamped their product and I was so happy to receive this because I knew it would work on my hair!

I wasn’t disappointed. After that first use, my hair was soft and silky, just as expected.

This product helps strengthen hair fiber and helps preserve color vibrancy, which is key for us ladies with red hair. But, anyone who colors their hair should use this product to keep their locks looking beautiful!

While this product is an in-shower deep conditioning hair mask, I use it every time I wash my hair, in place of my normal conditioner. My hair is l o n g and needs all the moisture it can get, especially now in the winter time. Using this product regularly helps keep my hair looking and feeling gorgeous!

Here, you can see just how long my hair is. haha!

I highly recommend this product and as soon I see it in a store, I’m purchasing it. I love this stuff!

Overall, I give this product 5 stars out of 5 stars.

Well, that’s it. Have you tried this? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Beat Those Winter Hair Blues! Hair Sanity to the Rescue!

*Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.*

Recently, I had the opportunity to test the Hair Sanity 2 Step system – An anti-itch shampoo and anti-dandruff conditioner. I was also sent a complimentary hair rejuvenator, a deep conditioner. How perfect!

When I opened the shampoo, the first thing I noticed was the scent – a hint of vanilla with a minty twist. With no metallic aftertones, this is not a traditional dandruff anti-itch system. It lathers nicely, instantly relieves itchiness and irritation, and leaves your scalp feeling tingly and clean.

Next comes the conditioner. The scent is a little softer, but very pleasant. The directions say to massage the conditioner directly on your scalp, working it through to your ends, and letting it sit for 30 seconds, up to 3 minutes, depending on your hair type. I was nervous about this step because my roots tend to get greasy. I only ever apply conditioner to my ends. But, for the purpose of this review, I followed the directions exactly.

Surprise, surprise. While the conditioner did help with my dry, itchy scalp, it was not hydrating enough for the rest of my hair. Combing my hair was a challenge, to put it lightly. The next morning, my roots did look greasy and I ended up having to wash my hair again later that evening. I repeated the same steps, standing under the water for a few extra minutes, just to be sure I rinsed out all the conditioner. Same result.

So, for the past few weeks, I decided to only use the shampoo and my normal conditioner. Much better! My hair is soft and it looks beautiful. Plus, no itchy scalp.

My husband and my son both used the shampoo as well. My husband always has a dry scalp during the winter. He loved it and uses it in place of his normal anti-dandruff shampoo every shower. He commented that his hair felt softer and his scalp felt better, too.

Because I color my hair, I was concerned that the shampoo would strip my red. There’s nothing on the bottle that says it’s color safe, so it was a true test.

I dyed my hair the week before Christmas and I’ve used the Hair Sanity shampoo faithfully every time I wash my hair. My color still looks vibrant and beautiful. I think this shampoo has actually helped bring out the vibrancy of the red. I am pleasantly surprised at this.

My favorite part of this entire system is the hair rejuvenator. When I opened the box and saw the little bottle, I actually laughed out loud. I was excited to get the free gift to try and I am always looking for a good deep conditioner, but the bottle is tiny – 0.5 fl.oz. My hair is long (down to my tush long) and thick. I honestly thought that I would be lucky to get one use out of the rejuventor.

I’ve actually used it three times, and I have enough for another use. No one is more shocked than me at this information. And I have to say, this is my favorite product out of all three.

The Hair Sanity Rejuvenator is a game changer — that is not an exaggeration. A little goes a long way. When you open the top, a clear, thin liquid comes out into your hand. As you massage it into your ends, it thickens to coat all your strands. You can feel it instantly soften your hair. I was able to finger-comb it through my hair. (Which is a feat. I can’t do that with my everyday conditioner.) I left it on for 5 minutes and rinsed it out. After my normal towel dry, my hair was still soft and it was easy to comb through. My hair looks and feels silky and soft. The best part is that I still have some left.

Final thoughts:

The shampoo is great. The scent is wonderful, it relieves dry, itchy scalps, and doesn’t strip my color.  My family is still using it and I would buy the shampoo again. I did not like the conditioner. It just doesn’t work for my hair. It made my roots greasy and wasn’t hydrating enough for my ends. My husband and I both saw great results only using the first step. I give the Hair Sanity 2 Step System a 3 out of 5 stars.

The Hair Sanity Rejuvenator is amazing. Just a small amount hydrated and moisturized my hair, allowing me to comb through wet strands with no tangles or hassle. It left my hair looking and feeling silky smooth. I will definitely be buying this product. I give the Hair Sanity Rejuvenator 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this to anyone who has long hair, colored or processed hair, dry hair, or if you just need a little extra oomph. This is an amazing product.

Now I will be honest, when I opened the box, I was a little intimidated and scared. These colors in the tube are dark. The boldest I’ve gone with my lip color is red and the “wildest” I’ve gone is a darker pink-purple, that still looked like an everyday color. Count in the fact that it’s just been in the past year, year and a half, that I’ve really dived in and started wearing lipstick… you can start to paint a picture of how I was feeling. However, I always try to find the benefit in each situation. First, I was grateful to be chosen for this campaign. These are products that are sent to me, completely complimentary, and I get to share my opinion about them. That’s pretty awesome. Second, Halloween is just around the corner. I thought these colors would be perfect for it!

My plan was to create fun Halloween inspired looks, but I really surprised myself.

The first color I used was Smoked Silver #978. I did a smokey eye and liquid eyeliner, three coats of various mascara, and the lipstick. In the tube, the color is definitively dark purple with specks of silver, and an almost goldish sheen. I applied it to my lips straight from the tube. It was very soft and velvety, but the color was not as dark on my lips as I was expecting. It was a vampy purple-silver and really brought out the color of my eyes. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it actually looked on me. The color is a true matte, and feels good on the lips.

Smoked Silver, paired with a black choker, a chained choker, a black lace sweater, and with my hair up in a ponytail – I was living my childhood dream of 90’s witchy vampire girl. I was ready to walk on the set of The Craft for a role in the witchy squad, or onto the set of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and be the new chosen one (or a vampire extra haha!) I loved this look and loved the lipstick color!

Next up was Molten Bronze #970. Again, I was a little nervous about this color. It is a very dark brown with specks of gold in the tube. I set out to create a bronzed goddess look with this lipstick. I went to apply a metallic quartz eyeshadow to my eyelid for a little shimmer, and my brush still had a little bit of espresso on it. So my eyes instantly got smoked out. Oops. I went with it and ended up with a nice brown/bronze smokey eye. Then I applied the lipstick. Again, it went on smooth and felt velvetty on my lips. It was a nice bronzy matte color. As soon as I put it on, it completed the look. Once again, I had 90’s vibes going on (when you discover your true self hahahahaha!)… I tousled my wavy strands and ended up with a few different vibes:

Had I added a flannel and doc martens – 90’s chic grunge

Motorcycle boots and a leather jacket – Biker chick, or 90’s rock and roll chick (maybe heels instead of boots)

I added a cross necklace and went with 90’s vamp vibes, but as I was getting pics of my look, I realized that I looked like Madonna in the Like A Prayer video. (minus my long hair and darker eyes)

This was my favorite Maybelleine Matte Metallics lipstick color out of the two.

I was very surprised with this voxbox. I still cannot get over how good these lipsticks look on! I give these 5 stars out of 5. The colors are beautiful and truly matte. They feel velvety on the lips and after trying them, I think they would look good on everyone! I looked up the price at Walmart – they retail for $5.50, which I think is pretty comparable to other drugstore lipsticks. I recommend looking into this line and trying the lipstick out! There are ten colors total to choose from and I want to try Copper Spark #958 and Hot Lava #962.

Well that’s it! What do you think about the Maybelline Matte Metallics Lipstick line? Which color would you want to try or have you tried? Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!

July/August Favorites

Hello friends!

Here we are at the end of August already. Which means it’s time for another favorites post. I’ve combined July and August favorites. Let’s get started!

Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker in Red!

A girl needs her coffee! My old coffee pot was a little worn… the heat plate had started to crack and my husband told me it was time for a new one. He got me this in early July and I love it! #1, it’s red! It just brings a nice pop of color to the kitchen. Second, it allows me to set the strength of my coffee.. which I’ll tell you.. is always on strong. 😉 I like my coffee black and strong. No ruining it with milk, creamer, or sugar.. yuck! It has a nice set up feature, like most coffee pots nowadays. I am not awake enough in the morning to put water and coffee in the pot and then wait. I set it up the night before. It turns on and makes my coffee for me about 15 minutes before I get up. Is there anything better than a full pot of HOT coffee waiting for you when you wake up in the morning? I think not. Also, it turns off automatically after 2 hours.. beeping to alert me that it’s doing so. All I have to do is turn it back on. The only downside to this coffee maker, that I’ve found, is that if the pot is not just so, it makes a huge mess all over the counter. Looking at reviews, other people have also had this issue. I’ve found a fix: simply turn the pot so that the handle is to the right. I haven’t had any problems with leaking since.

Tone Blissful Awakening Caffeine and Vanilla Blossom Body Wash

I found this on sale at Wal-Mart and had to try it out! The yellow bottle and the word, ‘caffeine’ caught my attention. I love this and actually am almost out. It smells amazing.. like a vanilla, tropical vacation… and leaves your skin feeling fresh and soft. It’s a wonderful shower experience. I can’t attest to the energizing feeling… I like to take a shower before bed because my hair takes forever to dry.. but I loved it all the same! I was disappointed to see that the store was out when I went last week, so hopefully they’ll get more in because I need another bottle!

Fruity Pebbles

I love cereal. Not as much as Matt on Big Brother 19, but I could (and do) eat cereal for every meal of the day! I typically eat Raisin Bran (Yes, I’m old) but once in awhile, I like to switch it up. Fruity Pebbles are a gem from my childhood. This box was gone in a few days because we all love it at my house! Yabba Dabba Doo! hahaha! Fun Fact: I don’t like milk, so I eat my cereal dry. Way more delicious!

Chapstick Aloha Coconut

I am a chapstick girl at heart. I always have some tube or container of chapstick with me. Normally, I am not a fan of the Chapstick brand.. but Wal-Mart had 4 packs on sale for like $2… um, that’s a good deal! So, I picked out the package with 3 original tubes and this one. First, let me say, this is my new favorite! It smells like the beach – Coconut tropical vacation.. Calgon take me away! haha! It keeps my lips moisturized and hydrated.. what more could I ask for? I am hoping that they sell these individually because I would love to get more.

Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care Conditioner

Most of you know I have really long hair. It’s thick, it’s heavy, and it demands a little bit of work to keep it looking nice. I need to use a deep conditioner or my strands get incredibly dry and stringy looking. I love this Suave conditioner because in one use, it hydrates my hair and leaves it soft and silky. Plus, it’s not expensive. I’m a huge believer in quality products at inexpensive prices. Sorry, I don’t want to spend $20+ on a tiny container of product that will only last me a week. No. Suave is amazing and doesn’t strip my color.

Plackers Flossers Sample Pack

*I received this sample pack free in an Influenster MegaVoxbox I won from a Twitter Party. All opinions are my own.*

This sample pack came with three flossers that were kid-sized. So, these went to my son. He loved them! They had a fruity flavor and were small enough for him to use on his own. He really enjoyed being able to floss his own teeth, so we will be getting more of these for him.

Sinful Shine Nail Polish – Rendezvous

*I received this nail polish free in an Influenster MegaVoxbox I won from a Twitter Party. All opinions are my own.*

This is not a color I would have chosen for myself, but I have to say, it’s become my favorite summer polish. It’s a gorgeous seafoam color and just perfect for summer! I only received step 1 in the voxbox, so the polish only lasts for about 4 or 5 days before it starts chipping… and that is without a top coat.. which is pretty great. I like to use two coats for a more pronounced color. It takes a little bit to dry and will smudge and crinkle up if you get impatient. But aside from that, I love it! I can see myself buying this after I use it all up.

Aussie Headstrong Volume Hairspray

*I received this bottle of hairspray in an Influenster MegaVoxbox I won from a Twitter Party. All opinions are my own.*

I’m a huge Aussie hair products fan. This hairspray has not disappointed. #1, it smells like grapes. Second, the volume it gives my hair is quite impressive. If I wanted to recreate the gorgeous big hair that Axl Rose flaunts in the Welcome to the Jungle music video, I could… I love this stuff so much!

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer

*I received this bottle in an Influenster MegaVoxbox I won from a Twitter Party. All opinions are my own.*

This is such a great product! I’ve been using it since I received it and I love it! It actually is a time-saver. I just put it on after my shower, pat dry, get dressed.. boom done! It hydrates my skin and leaves it feeling soft and moisturized. Plus it smells like coconut. I love it! I saw an ad in one of my magazines for Jergens tinted wet skin moisturizer.. so it will basically give me a tan and golden glow.. I’m going to try that one next!

Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation #742

*I received this complimentary from Influenster in the Oasis Voxbox for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.*

Oh how I love this foundation! I’ve been wearing it every day that I put on make-up. It glides on your skin, blends easily, and gives you a flawless look. I have found that it gives great coverage from one application, but you can layer more to give you a little more coverage if needed. I wear it under my bare minerals. It makes me feel like a more elegant, beautiful version of myself. I don’t feel like a different person wearing this. It also has a pleasant citrus scent. I will be buying more of this. I really love it!

And that’s it! What were some of your favorite things the past two months? Leave a comment and let me know!
