Lessons Learned in Life: How to Achieve Happiness

Hello friends! Happy Thursday!

Today I wanted to share some thoughts and life lessons on the subject of happiness.

Happiness – a state of well-being and contentment.

Sometimes elusive, but always enticing.

An idea, a concept, a feeling that people have contemplated since the beginning of time – trying to define it, seeking it out, a magnificent treasure that all hope to covet.

Aristotle believed the ultimate pursuit of a person’s life was to achieve happiness.

And isn’t that what we are all ultimately hoping to achieve?

A life of happiness.

Everyone has his or her own idea of what happiness means.

The following are a few lessons I’ve learned over years, as well as quotes and phrases that I love, all concerning happiness.

Every day you have a choice – let life happen to you or take action and make things  happen.

You are responsible for your own happiness.

No is responsible for you, but you.

Your power lies in your ability to choose.

You cannot control anyone’s actions or words. You are not responsible for anyone’s actions or words.

You get a choice. You can be a victim or you can be a victor.

You, and you alone, have the power to make your life great.

Adversity will present itself in a variety of ways.

“Learning to ignore others is one of the great paths to inner peace.”
-Robert J. Sawyer

“Pick your battles. You don’t have to show up to every argument you’re invited to.”
-Mandy Hale

It is not necessary to react to everything you notice.

“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
-Buddha

Do not get upset with people or situations. Both are powerless without your reaction.
