13 Inspiring Quotes on Forgiveness, Letting Go, and Moving On

Hello friends! Happy Sunday!

A brand new week lies ahead of us.

Each morning is a fresh start, providing new opportunities and new possibilities. Your day is set by your attitude and you alone have the power to make it great.

Having the right attitude can sometimes be a challenge.

“If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”
-Junia Bretas

Oftentimes what holds us back is being too concerned about the past. Letting go can be difficult. It takes time and effort, and in my experience, age. As I’ve gotten older, my focus has shifted. My priorities have changed, and as a result, my perspective has also. At some point in your life, you just wake up and realize what is important, and you stop giving time and attention to the things and the people who no longer deserve them.

With that said, this week the focus is on letting go. I’ve compiled a small list of quotes that I hope will inspire and motivate you to release any negative emotions – the grudges, the anger, the sadness… anything that no longer serves you – Get rid of it.

Choose to make a change.

Choose happiness.

Choose to focus on whatever makes your heart smile, whatever sets your soul on fire… Chase after your dreams, your ambitions.. get out there and make something of yourself.

It’s never too late.

Life is too short.

Ready?

“If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will have complete peace.”
-Ajahn Chah

“Forgiveness is so simple. It’s literally just a decision. No justification or cause has to happen, and forgiving does not have anything to with accepting the other person’s behavior, approving of it, justifying it, rationalizing it, or understanding it. Forgiveness is just a spiritual power in dropping the weight of negativity, of the negative emotion and energy around you. It’s time to just let it go.”
-Brandon Burchard

“When you are unforgiving and carry animosity, you feed the very soul of conflict that keeps your pain alive. If you suffocate your heart with anger, all your dreams will die. The only way to allow the soul to freely breathe, is to forgive.”
-Bryant McGill

“Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
-Buddha

It’s not really letting go of the past that is the problem. It is coming to terms with letting go of a possible future that will never be. That is the struggle. The mind wants to keep its fantasies. Even when they are wrong, unhealthy, dangerous, or even cruel. To let go of the past you must let go of the future and live in the present.

“The truth is unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”
-Dr. Steve Maraboli

“Your past is just a story, and once you realize this, it has no power over you.”
-Chuck Palahniuk

If you don’t leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.

“It’s not a matter of letting go – you would if you could. Instead of ‘let it go’ we should probably say ‘let it be.'”
-Jon Kabat-Zinn
